My Verdict
Lego set 40535, Iron Man Brick Sketches is a fun, yet simple set build to complete with kids. It is a nice compact, but well designed display piece that can be hung on the wall or displayed with it’s built in stand. This build only takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Box and Packaging
The box for the Iron Man Brick Sketches is nothing particularly special. It is just a simple display of the set.
Inside the box are the instruction booklet and 4 bags. There are no labeled bags so all of them need to be opened at the beginning.

Build Process

This build is a great build to complete with your kids. It is basically one dimensional so it doesn’t include any strange building techniques. It is about a 30 minute build.
One of the biggest difficulties in the build was the difference in the blue colors. Historically, Lego has had issues with the colors in the instructions matching the real pieces, but when the real pieces are so close together in shades, it is even more challenging.
There is an error in the booklet where the Iron Man mask chin appears and then disappears. This happens on page 57 and step 49.
This error disappears on page 58, but it isn’t until the last step on page 62 (step 54) that the chin piece is actually installed.
Design and Features
What’s nice about the Brick Sketches is that they usually come with a stand. This stand can be placed in five different positions to display the art at multiple angles. It is actually a pretty sturdy stand. I expected it to slip and fall more frequently.
The actual structure of the Iron Man mask in my opinion is really good. If you’re familiar with the Iron Man mask/bust that Lego creates, this actually seems more representative of the mask.
The one part that I thought would be more distracting when I built it is the blue surrounding of the white eyes. When I first saw this build, I thought this would be more distracting that it actually was. The blue is there to mimic the blue backlight on the mask. When actually built, its not as bothersome as I expected.
Conclusion
This set is a very simple set for Iron Man and Lego fans alike. As someone who really enjoys Iron Man, this is a cool display piece to either hang on the wall or prop up at your desk at work. As a cheap set, it is easy to build but offers, in my opinion some good sculpting on the art piece.
